Have You Just Moved To Oregon From Out-Of-State?

Oregon’s environment is ideal for many reasons. I love living here and I am here to help you love it as much as I do. If you already have an estate plan, it is a good idea to make updates to it as soon as possible so you can concentrate your energy on settling into the good life here.

Oregon’s graduated estate taxes are high, ranging from 10% to up to 16%, for estates with a gross value of $1 million and higher. Your existing estate plan may not address the nuances under the state’s laws. Wait. Was one of the reasons for your move here because there is no inheritance tax in Oregon? Still true.

Estate taxes apply to the total value of your estate. Your home, rental property, recreational vehicles, cabin in the woods, art collection, sports toys, and other items. You get the picture. In contrast to estate taxes, inheritance taxes apply to the amount the individual heir or beneficiary in Oregon receives. Neither Oregon nor the federal government assesses inheritance taxes. Did you factor in Oregon estate taxes when deciding to move here? That hidden secret comes to light when we least expect it. I can help with better awareness and damage control, in advance.
